Flood Protection Barriers
Flood Barriers
From simple slot-in ‘stop-log’ water barriers to fully automatic barriers that operate only when required, FCI designs flood barriers with flood protection heights up to 4m high and unlimited length.
Automatic flood barriers can operate to self-raise with the rising flood water or be push button operated so that the flood barrier can be operated in advance of floods with full peace of mind. They can also be manually operated as required.
Floodgate Barriers
FCI’s specialist engineers design tailor-made flood gates that provide dependable flood protection whilst maximizing access availability. The flood gates can be designed to operate on a dead level threshold allowing unrestricted vehicle, pedestrian and disabled access.
Lightweight aluminum flood gates are available in widths up to 4.5m and flood defense heights up to 1.8m, and our steel floodgates are designed to any size. All floodgates can be automatic and push button operated if required.
We make hinged flood gates, pivot flood gates and rolling flood gates in a full range of sizes.
Flood Doors
Our flood doors are designed to protect against flood and unauthorized entry and when a flood door is shut, it is flood proof. Our unique gasket arrangement guarantees flood protection to full height or above and flood doors can be fitted with a range of access / egress and security features as required.
Our doors can also include for self-inflating gaskets where required.
Chemical Containment
Flood Control International offers a full range of chemical spill containment products to protect against chemical spillage or firefighting run-off.
Our secondary containment barriers can isolate a whole site or just part of a site to retain chemical spillages or fire-fighting runoff on the premises.
Flood Barriers
Flood Control International offers a huge range of flood barriers to ensure the right flood solution is provided:
Stop-Log Flood Barriers, Glass Floodwalls, Flip-up Flood Barriers and Drop-Down Flood Barriers. With enhancement, these flood barriers also perform as Chemical Spill Containment Barriers.
Stop Log Flood Barriers
Removable Stop Log flood barriers are engineered to provide similar levels of protection to permanent flood defences, but with the advantage of being fully removable when not required.
These simple yet efficient flood barriers slot into fixed channel posts and can be supplied for virtually any configuration and length, with flood protection heights of up to 4m.
Glass Floodwalls
Our glass flood wall barriers are made from high strength structural glass and engineered frames that withstand static and impact loads. The design uses structural anchoring systems and special sealing making it a watertight and impact resistant glass flood wall.
This flood defence solution requires no operational input and causes minimal visual intrusion where flood protection is required.
Flip-Up Flood Barrier
In order to provide unrestricted access to pedestrian and vehicle entrances, the flip-up flood barrier is fully recessed into the ground when not in use.
Activation is done either manually by a push button or automatically when triggered by sensors. Flip-up flood barriers can be engineered to rise up to flood defence heights of 6.6ft as standard and up to lengths of 40ft. However, flip-ups can be linked together to form a continuous length of flood defence.
Drop-Down Flood Barrier
When not in use, the drop-down flood barrier is unobtrusively located above the top of the opening, ready to be lowered at a moment’s notice.
Automatic sensors (with manual override) can operate the barrier with rising floodwaters or push button operation for complete control. These flood barriers are an efficient, dependable flood defence.
Floodgate Barriers
Flood Control International’s flood gates are designed for dependable flood protection whilst maximising access availability. They have a unique design that allows flood gates to be designed to operate on a dead level threshold allowing unrestricted vehicle, pedestrian, and disabled access. This is a game changer in terms of having full flood resilience whilst maintaining operability in sites.
Lightweight aluminium flood gates are available in widths up to 4.5m and flood defence heights up to 1.9m, and our steel floodgates are designed to any size. All flood gates can be automatic and push-button operated if required..
Lift Hinge Floodgate
Flood Control International’s design of lift-hinge floodgates utilizes a unique ‘raise swing-lower’ mechanism and does not require recessed ground channels, raised ground beams or ramps. This makes the floodgates ideal for vehicle entrances and especially suitable for forklift or wheelchair access.
These floodgates are available as single or double leaf and they can be integrated with a stop log system for wide openings in flood defences. Lift-hinge flood gate products are suitable for use in unmanned locations as they are fully lockable and come complete with anti-theft and vandal resistant features.
The components are manufactured from construction grade steel, stainless steel and aluminium and are virtually maintenance free.
Sliding Floodgates
Flood Control International offers a full design, manufacture and installation service for heavy duty sliding floodgates. Each sliding floodgate is individually designed for the specific customer’s requirements and can be designed to incorporate automation of closure, locking and monitoring status where needed.
Sliding floodgates incorporate spring wheels to allow an easy sliding operation with the ability to compress seals when in position. Alternatively, inflating seals can be used.
Swing-Hinged Floodgates
Our swing-hinge flood gates are ideal for openings where there is a step or ramp. The aluminium construction results in a lightweight and easy to use gate that provides full flood protection.
These flood gates are designed for extreme weather durability to give a lifetime of service; the custom gaskets are designed to reform after prolonged compression, the gates are lockable and have anti-theft and vandal resistant features.
Swing-hinge flood gates provide either flooding protection or chemical containment in bunded areas. The gates are securely sealed with 2 or 3 lever type locking handles. The precision engineered hinges allow the gates to open the full 180° and this can be further extended to 270° with modification.
Rolling Floodgates
Flood Control International’s rolling floodgates are ideal for large openings that need to be closed quickly with minimal operational effort. Our gates work on level sills and so are ideal for vehicular and pedestrian openings. There are no below-ground elements that may fill with silt/ debris/ ice that may cause problems with the smooth operation of the gate.
We design our rolling floodgates to suit the layout and geometry of the site. Our gates are just as effective on the ‘dry’ side or ‘wet’ side of a floodwall, with supporting posts that are connected to the ground beam which is embedded in the base concrete. We have designed double floodgates with swing-out braces which transfer their load down into a slab foundation rather than into the walls each side – this is ideal for larger openings – this system is suitable for openings to 21m wide and up to 3m high.
Pivot Floodgate
Convenience and rapid operation make FCI’s pivot flood control gates the ideal flash flood defence or chemical spill containment barrier.
The precision gas lift mechanism enables the gate to be effortlessly raised and lowered and the single point locking system clamps the pivot gate in place at the turn of a lever.
Automated or semi-automatic flood pivot gates can be triggered by fire alarm, smoke detectors, heat detectors or water detectors or push button controlled for daily use.
Specifically designed as flood protection for loading bays and wide openings, the pivot flood gate supports are custom manufactured to clear any existing obstacles, roller shutters, crash bars etc, and the raised flood gate is safely positioned to the side of the opening leaving the access totally free.
Flood Proof Doors
Our range of Secure Flood Proof Doors are watertight whenever they are locked, and due to their steel frame and construction they are able to simultaneously operate as security doors. Flood doors can be clad with a variety of finishes so that the door becomes part of the building aesthetic, rather than as a post-construction add-on.
Our unique gasket arrangement guarantees flood protection to full height or above, depending on the locking mechanism chosen, and flood doors can be fitted with a range of access / egress and security features as required.
FCI’s custom engineered flood doors can be designed to almost any configuration – our largest todate is 6.4m wide and 4.3m high.
Available as single or double leaf doors, our watertight doors are ideal for use in unmanned locations, such as utility sites, especially where security measures are required. Double leaf flood proof doors incorporate a removable centre mullion. The doors utilize 0.08” zinc-coated steel and come with a range of locking mechanisms.
